  • In Alberta, physiotherapy treatment for injuries from motor vehicle accidents is governed by the Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols Regulation (DTPR). If assessed within 10 days of the accident, you may qualify for pre-approved treatment protocols:

  • WAD I: Up to 10 treatments over 90 days.

  • WAD II: Up to 21 treatments over 90 days.

  • For injuries that do not fit within these protocols or if the injuries are not resolve by 90 days, additional treatments may be covered under Section B benefits, which provide up to $50,000 for medical expenses over two years.

It is also important to note that you have the right to choose your physiotherapy provider, regardless of your insurance company's recommendations.
